Dems Pulling A Fast One With Deem and Pass?

Can you believe it?  Nancy Pelosi is actually considering implementing a little known process called “Deem and Pass” to get Health Care legislation through the House.  The House can “deem” that it’s endorsing the body of legislation passed by the Senate when the Senate submits the reworked language needed to make both versions of a bill win ultimate passage.  The full text of the article posted on Yahoo News slightly less than an hour ago can be found here

I was going to write Part 2 of my article on The State of Our Government this afternoon, but this really needs to get out there for all to see.

Kenneth W.  Smith Jr. of the Washington Post explains how Deem and Pass (also known as the “Self Executing Rule” actually works in his article here

Granted, Deem and Pass has been around for quite some time.  However, this is clearly a dodge by House Dems to distance themselves from taking responsibility for the Health Care bill at the polls this November.  To quote Ms. Pelosi,

“It’s more insider and process-oriented than most people want to know,” Pelosi said in a roundtable discussion with bloggers Monday. “But I like it,” she said, “because people don’t have to vote on the Senate bill.”

It’s precisely these kinds of tactics that have made my blood boil over the last few years.  Is it any wonder people don’t trust the government?  So, people, it’s time to get on the phone and call your representative to Congress, and let them know you don’t approve of the Deem and Pass tactic or the Health Care legislation as currently written, and passage of the Health Care bill, whether by Deem and Pass or direct vote will get them voted out of office in November.

I close my eyes, and I see this:
