What AZ is doing is actually less intrusive than what the Feds do at the airports... yet you don't hear nearly as many people bitching about the airport security checks violating their 4th Amendment rights. As I've stated before, the regime in power seldom does anything strictly for the People's sake. They do it only if there's a chance it will help keep them in power. AZ SB 1070 is one of the few instances where the People (read that as Citizens) will benefit by the reduction of crime and the burden on social programs caused by the influx if illegal aliens. There has been much talk about this being a Soviet or Nazi-like "Show me your papers" thing... and it isn't that at all. The "legal" immigrant (an actual immigrant, not a naturalized citizen) stopped for a routine traffic violation has absolutely nothing to worry about, IF they have the documents in their possession that are already mandated by Federal Law. The naturalized citizen will almost certainly have a driver's license or state issued ID card, and they're good to go. It's the illegals that should be sweating this, because it's now a misdemeanor in AZ for a 1st offense of being there illegally, which will make it next to impossible for them to obtain citizenship (i.e., they need to have a clean criminal record to become a citizen). Those in AZ illegally should be making plans to go home. You’re exactly right… and this is the point I was trying to make in the original post. Most of them are here for the benefits of our society whether they immigrate or not is irrelevant; they want the goodies. I am amazed it can take many years for a highly educated European who have marketable skills and can be employed before he or she steps on a plane to leave their country and fly to the US finds barriers at every step of the way. We encourage the uneducated, unskilled and those with low or no motivation to freely cross our borders when scientist, mathematicians, chemical, nuclear engineers and post graduate intellectuals are openly refused. Ya see the government has problems with those who can think for themselves. . . it's the sheep the liberals encourage to come on over, we'll feed, clothe, educate (that's for the few who desire an education), and provide free services as long as you find your way to the ballot box and remember our names. . . Can anyone spell pandering. . . . actually the technical term is kissing ass. . . . And do we have a Pres that's good at that or what . . That's my word. . .
