A Little Needed Stimulus

I don’t know if this idea would get much play in Congress, but it seems to me we could stimulate close to 10% of the economy by eliminating the Federal Income Tax on Unemployment Benefits for a year or so.  The small hit to the Treasury would be far outweighed by the additional cash it would put in the pockets of those on Unemployment.  This is cash that would definitely be spent… not socked away for a rainy day.  If that’s not a stimulus, what is?

Congress… if you’re out there, is anybody listening?

I can’t deny the Special Interests have their hands in too many pies. The only way to fix that is to put strict limits on lobbying (and enforce them), and stop corporations and labor unions from contributing to political campaigns. Unfortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court has recently ruled that political contributions from special interests are quite constitutional. Until that decision is reversed, it’ll be business as usual

a ridiculous tax — this money would go directly back into the economy and help people just a little at the same time.

man, if just some common sense would occur in our legislation it could help us out tenfold…

i still think the biggest problem in this county is that special interest runs things – maybe not exactly correlated with this issue but when the county is run by those looking to make profit over the good of the people, then not many good things will happen…
